Rugby match delayed by parachutist stuck on roof

A rugby match was delayed by 40 minutes after a parachutist took a wrong turn and ended up stuck on the roof.

Just when you thought rugby couldn’t get any wilder, the Champions Cup tie between Sale and Toulouse decided to throw in a surprise guest star: a stray parachutist stuck on the roof.

Yes, the roof.

The pre-match stunt was meant to be epic, with three parachutists dropping in from the sky to deliver the match ball like action heroes.

Two of them landed perfectly on the pitch. Applause, fist pumps, slow-mo glory. All was going to plan.

Then came parachutist number three.

Instead of landing like his mates, this poor guy drifted off course, got his parachute tangled in the stadium awning, and ended up dangling above the crowd like Spider-Man having a mid-life crisis.

Fans underneath had to be moved just in case gravity suddenly remembered how it works.

Stadium staff and Toulouse’s lion mascot sprang into action like a budget Avengers team.

They stacked post protectors beneath him and, for that extra touch of chaos, dragged in a giant inflatable from outside.

For a solid 30 minutes, the crowd watched a grown man swing in the breeze while firefighters worked out how to get him down.

And honestly? It was the most captivating pre-match entertainment rugby has ever seen.

Check out the moment here:

Finally, to massive cheers, the airborne adventurer was rescued, with his parachute and pride only slightly bruised.

The players, who had gone back to the changing rooms (probably questioning every decision that led them to this moment), were called back out.

After the 40-minute delay, the actual rugby began.

Moral of the story? Parachuting is hard, mascots are underrated, and maybe next time just walk the ball out.
