Pics: Windowsill takes a cut on Keri Miller's hand
Updated | By Keri Miller
Keri decided it was time to clean her room and to do some DIY. Little did she know it would all end in stitches. Ouch! Warning: Some of these pics are pretty gruesome!
Just a few minutes into cleaning up my room I think, “let’s open a window”. A quick back story, the house that I stay in is lovely but it is old and the new owners are going to be tearing the house down for a development in a while so if things break, they stay broken.
Our windows are beautiful big (old) windows that slide up or down. I tried to open the top window down but
It was very stuck and not budging at all. (I realise now that the window wood has swollen with the rain)
So, not thinking this action through at all, I stand on my bed, use my right hand to try and budge the window edge down enough to loosen it so I can open the window. Next thing… I see blood on the window. But I didn’t feel a thing.
Where was the blood coming from?
Then I see my hand!
Warning: These pictures are not for sensitive viewers
I went downstairs and asked for help, I wasn’t quite sure what to do and all I kept think was, “OH NO I DON’T HAVE MEDICAL AID!!!!”
Oh and this was about 11h20, and I teach a yoga class at 12h30. I messaged the other teachers but no one saw the message, so before stitches off I went to teach a yoga class
With my hand in the air!
Once I got home I called Dr. Chris VanRooyen (Dr_031 on insta) and because he knows me and my hippie ways so well he helped me do a wonderful home stitch job 😊
I wouldn’t suggest this method of window opening to ANYONE.
Thank you to Tom who managed a very panicked me, and cleaned and stitched my hand and to Dr. 031 THANK YOU AGAIN for helping me.
