Social media has been buzzing reporting the devastating news of the #KnysnaFire that swept over the town, leaving many families and animals homeless after houses, farms, and infrastructure were damaged and destroyed.
The fire, allegedly caused by a lightning storm, has resulted in mass evacuations, and according to IOL, areas that have been evacuated include Welbedacht, Nania, Eastford, Green Pastures, and Knysna Heights. In total, 17 suburbs had been evacuated in Knysna.
It's also been confirmed that late on Wednesday night the informal settlement in Knysna was ablaze.
Videos and pictures of the massive fire have been doing the rounds on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, with #PrayForKnysna and #KnysnaFire trending for hours.
