Matric dances are something that lots of matriculants look forward to. Months of preparation, appointments, and dreams all come together for a magical night. 

These evenings are always one to remember, but in this instance, it was seemingly for all the wrong reasons….

A video has gone viral after a matric student was captured emerging from a casket for their matric dance arrival.

Some social media users have expressed anger and disapproval, deeming it "disrespectful and inappropriate” after this incident that transpired in Phoenix.

As captured in the video above, the 17-year-old student made her grand entrance at the Sunford School hall event by emerging from a white coffin while dressed in a black ball gown. 

Speaking to IOL, the girl’s aunt said it was so sad that her niece was being targeted on social media.

“My niece didn’t mean to cause any harm. She wanted to make an appearance at her prom and had no ill-intention."

Since this video has been shared, memes have surfaced on social media mocking her niece. 

“This was a dream which we made a reality, and also, it is also not the first time something like this has been done,” shared the family to IOL.
