Online retailer under fire for advertising plus-sized tights
Updated | By Justin James
Many have gone as far as to say that this ad was 'distasteful' and even constitutes 'body shaming'.
When companies decide to advertise products that they stock, they normally have a marketing team to come up with clever ways to entice people to purchase them. However, one popular e-commerce website is being criticised for the way in which their plus-sized tights were advertised.

The image, which has been doing the rounds on social media, shows two thin models who are seen stretching out the plus-sized tights to show how large and 'roomy' the tights really are. The tights are stretched up to the models' faces and come in black and nude.
The pictures have sparked outrage by many who say that it is evident that the tights are meant for a woman with a fuller figure and that there should have been other ways to go about advertising this product.

Many have taken to Twitter to blast the retailer for their method of advertising the tights.
doesn't matter what the image was originally used for. matters how they're using it to advertise now. it's still distasteful, even if they copped the photos from another product. they still linked the photo with a plus sized advertisement/product, so it's still not cool.

It so is. This world is filled with people of all shapes and sizes. It would be nice if there could be a little social acceptance and not so much backhanded shade.

This is so wrong on so many levels. How demeaning can you be? Smh

Get a plus size model, then. You wouldn’t have a plus size model advertise regular size stuff bu strangling themselves with it, would you?

Do you find the ad offensive or are people overreacting?
