Northlands Girls contribute greatly to fellow schools

During the colder winter nights, blankets are something to be grateful for. This school created a winter warmth campaign to do their bit during this cold season.
It is currently winter and warmth is the most sought after feeling. For those who are fortunate to have even one single blanket, keep in in mind those who are without. This school did just this and were able to make a difference in the lives of fellow students.
The learners from Northlands Girls' High School (NGHS) donated more than 100 blankets to two other schools in the Durban North area as part of the winter warmth campaign they started in May.

This thoughtful initiative from such young minds is truly commendable.
The learners first visited Kenville Primary School before travelling to Quarry Heights Primary School.
“All South African public schools are categorised into five groups, called quintiles. Quintile one is the ‘poorest’ quintile," the school's marketing manager, Kerran Backhouse shared with Northglen News.

"Our idea was to pay it forward to those less fortunate. For the collection which saw us collect more than 180 blankets, we asked the learners and staff to either donate a new blanket, well-loved blanket (clean and in good condition) or donate money towards the purchase of blankets. It was a small gesture, but its important for our girls to give back to the community,” Backhouse further explained.
When winter finally comes to an end, kindness should not. If you feel the need to share with an unfortunate group of people something that can change their lives, mirror the efforts of Northlands Girls and do your thing.
