New photos of Jupiter released

We all know that Darren Maule loves everything to do with science, and when he saw these new images of Jupiter, he had to share them with KZN.

Juno the spacecraft took the photo 8,000 miles from the cloud tops during its 18th close flyby of Jupiter on February 12. Scientist Kevin M. Gill colour-enhanced and rotated the images.

The Juno mission was designed to study the origin and evolution of the gas giant and provide a better understanding of our solar system.

NASA approved for the mission to be an additional 41 months for Juno to complete its scientific objectives. The mission is funded through 2022, when it will come to an end.
