Mzansi shares opinion on South Africa's Olympic outfits

Are the neutral blazers and 'simple' tracksuits an epic failure?

People worldwide waited in anticipation for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games 2024 last Friday, 26 July 2024.

The Olympics give people a sense of pride and honour and are one of the most talked-about sporting events ever.

The excitement surrounding the opening ceremony saw people watching intently for their compatriots who would represent them in different sporting events. But South Africans have had much to say about the South African kits.

An article on IOL described it respectfully, saying: "While the warm-up kits, casual wear, and tracksuits that they will be wearing in the Olympic Village and during medal presentations are bold, with green and gold predominantly featured, the opening ceremony outfits were a bit, subdued."

South Africans were unafraid to share their feelings about our Olympic kit. Many boldly said that they expected more, considering we have some of the best designers in the world.

"Each athlete wore a classic khaki blazer, with the women athletes wearing theirs with a white round-neck top paired with dark green baggy pants with yellow graphic details." (IOL)

This woman, Queen of Jozi, blatantly called it "embarrassing". The Fashion Law Journal said, "What sets Paris apart as a fashion capital is its ability to evolve and innovate while staying true to its roots."

Hence, we understand why she called the South African kit "embarrassing".

Watch her review of the South African Olympic kit on TikTok. Her biggest beef with the kit was the khaki coloured blazers...
