Motorists be aware of the traffic restrictions starting this week

These road closures are in the wake of the province starting up with Transport Month Programme this week.
If you have been traveling from the highways, you'll notice there are lots of roads in KwaZulu-Natal that are currently going under construction.
According to The Witness, there's reconstruction work on the N3 from Sanctuary Road to Link Road.
This will result in the restriction of traffic, to a single lane on southbound carriageway from Tuesday.

According to Thabiso Dladla who is the eastern region project manager of South African National Roads Agency’s (SANRAL), this work will result in the road being reduced to only one lane at night.
This comes after Tuesday ECR had an outside broadcast at the Mooi Plaza tollgate in the wake of the launch of Department of Transport.
The department is launching the Transport Month programme.
The theme for the programme is 'Safety Starts With Me'.

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka, has been leading the provincial launch of the October Transport Month.
This is through the unveiling of a multi-pronged enforcement plan focusing on compliance of the heavy vehicles on the N3 in Mooi River.
Here to explain more on the programme is Kwanele Ncalane who's the spokesperson for the KZN Transport Department.
This year’s launch will incorporate two main aspects.
The roll out of Operation Vala Zonke, which is the plan to improve the provincial road network.

To this end, MEC Hlomuka will launch the rehabilitation of P19 in Mooi River.
The road connects Mooi River and Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality and it will be reconstructed at the value of R225 million.
Here to tell us more on the Mgungudlovu area is the mayor, councilor Zuma who joined us to chat more on the start of the KZN Department of Transport Month programme.
The launch comes as the KZN province is reeling from the devastating Phongolo truck accident that claimed 20 lives.
This is why this year’s theme, ' Safety Starts With Me' is a call to drivers and all road users to take responsibility and start acting right in saving lives and reducing crashes on the road.
