Monster fish are feeding off KZN

The KZN coast is lighting up with incredible fishing action this week, delivering excitement for anglers of all ages and skill levels. From trophy catches to family-friendly fishing spots, the South Coast is proving to be a prime destination for fishing enthusiasts.

Highlights from the week include standout catches that are sure to inspire both seasoned and novice anglers. 

Ruan Irving turned heads with a massive yellowfin tuna at Shelly Beach, while the Malherbe family – Leah (9), Abigail (13), and their mom Diandra – (pictured below) reeled in an impressive diamond ray at uShaka.

The North Coast delivered its own excitement with Shaun Mathura and Dean Reddy scoring a double-up on sand sharks, and Rob Watson landing a 3.89kg bass at the Paddock Bass Competition.

Despite cold water conditions, fishing remains strong, particularly in Durban, where grunters and kob have been biting consistently.

Meanwhile, the Blue Lagoon fishing ban remains a hot topic, with local anglers pushing for its removal while exploring alternative spots.
