Yearly, parents can expect a usual mix of toys, gadgets, and maybe a pet unicorn. Yet, this year, our kids have seemingly tapped into an alternate dimension of imagination where wishes come with quite a hefty price tag. Many people have attributed this to access to social media.

While Santa's workshop might operate on Christmas cheer, magic, and elves, the real world has price tags, debt, and receipts. There may be some budget-friendly deals to secure a top notch gift, however, the struggle is real for so many South Africans.

One mother shares a helpful solution to inspire your kids to embrace the Christmas spirit and magic of the festive season. Plus this will ensure that the kids have no beef with Santa come Boxing Day.

  • Do some DIY for your kids. They will never know it was you.
  • Send an apology from the North Pole
  • Offer incentives so that Santa can bring a small prezzie in the middle of the year when the budget is better #ChristmasInJuly
  • Have some real talk with the little ones about their expensive wishlist
  • Give them an option to donate toys to those in need and show them the true meaning of the Season of Giving
