KZN has experienced severe weather conditions, including tornadoes. On Monday afternoon, parts of KZN were destroyed by what is believed to be a tornado, which is unusual for this part of the world. It left a trail of devastation in its path and KZN has questions.

Joining us this morning on East Coast Radio was meteorologist, Annette Venter. She answered key questions such as:

  • How exactly does a tornado form?
  • We have never experienced tornadoes before; why do you think we are experiencing them now? Is it seasonal, or can it be attributed to climate change?
  • In your opinion, is there anywhere in the world we can go where we will not be affected by climate change?
  • Are tornadoes also named like hurricanes are?
