Fishing along the KwaZulu-Natal coastal areas is not just a way of life for many South Africans, but also a culture. It is a sport to many and a rite of passage in the fishing community

So, when people go out fishing, it isn't so much about the catch but the camaraderie involved in fishing. Or is it just about the catch?

Well, we're no experts, but the fishing community doesn't fit into one specific stereotype; it is an activity that involves the young and the old, both males and females. In essence, fishing is an activity that could earn you stripes on the shore, the same way a hat-trick might in football.

A young fisherman proved his might in a video he posted at the end of May 2024. In the video, Jaydin Naidoo tries his very best to hold onto a forceful catch.

After a lot of holding on and pulling, receiving assistance from older men in his fishing group, he showed the results of his hard work.
