Lots of sardine action off KZN coast

The 2024 sardine run season has started with a bang along the KwaZulu-Natal coast.

Over the last five days there's been lots of action from Hibberdene and Margate on the South Coast through to beaches in the Durban area, including La Lucia on Thursday.

Vinesh Soogreem has been tracking developments and has the latest on the sardine run in today's Angler News South Africa podcast.

Listen below.

Meanwhile, in other angling news:

Offshore:  The offshore has been up and down. The seas have been choppy but those that have launched have landed some good fish.

Rock and surf: Sardines have been the main focus this past week so not much has come in from the other areas.

Freshwater: The freshwater fishing has been good for those braving the cold mornings. The bass requires a bit more focus, but the trout and carp are feeding rather well.
