From South Africa's much-loved soapie, 'Backstage', to her role in M-Net's award-winning crime series, 'Reyka', Kim Engelbrecht has become an international star over the last couple of years.

The South African-born actress has received a 'Best Actress' nomination for the 2022 International Emmy (iEmmy) Awards.
This is for her role in 'Reyka', which captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.
Engelbrecht stopped by for a chat with Darren, Keri, and Sky to talk about her nomination, the future, and working with other actors in the industry.

She's competing with other great actresses for the Emmy, namely: Lou de Laage ('The Mad Women's Ball'), Celine Buckens ('Showtrial'), and Leticia Colin ('Where My Heart Is').
This nomination makes her the fifth African actress in history to be nominated.

KwaZulu-Natal-born actress Thuso Mbedu has received two iEmmy nominations for her role in 'Is’thunzi'.
Brenda Ngxoli and Lerato Mvelase bagged a nomination for 'Home Affairs' in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
Kim's nomination came shortly after her big win at the SAFTAs, where she won 'Best Actress' for 'Reyka'.
The 50th International Emmy Awards Gala will be taking place in New York on 21 November this year.
