KZN's rising cricket star: “I wouldn’t be here without this community”
Updated | By East Coast Radio
From small town boy to CSA cubs cricketer, Mfana Shange is making his hometown proud!
KZN rising star cricketer, Mfanafuthi Shange, has made the most of the opportunity he has been given. Mfana is the epitome of what it means to have resilience in times of adversity.
Coincidentally, our very own Sports Lead, Sky Tshabalala, knows Mfana from when he just started out his cricketing career.
“I recall the day I saw this young lad stroll into a cricket match as he played for the KZN development team. He was wearing All Stars and barely had a kit, but he scored 100 that day and played like a superstar.” Sky says.

A true sportsman does not need a fancy kit to be successful. Passion, self-confidence, and infectious energy is what put Mfana ahead of the pack.
Mfana continues to represent his hometown and Northwood School in his latest selection for CSA National Cubs week in Stellenbosch.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Thanks to the help from Northwood School, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, and Mfana’s supportive family, he was able to pursue his passion for cricket.
TUNE IN to East Coast Breakfast to hear more about this KwaZulu-Natal athlete.
We wish Mfana all the best on his future endeavours and hope to welcome him back into studio in the near-future.
Stay tuned for more, we will bring you the latest from East Coast Radio.
