  • In the 'beninging'

For our list of memes, we have to start in the 'beninging'. Former President Jacob Zuma, made us "listen properly" after he made a slight error that captivated the attention of internet users. The meme was not short-lived, people still quote this mishap to this day.

  • 'Warrapen, Keegan?'

The video emerged online and it shows a fight between two guys from Tongaat, bystanders watching, someone filming the fight, and another guy who seems concerned, asking "What Happened, Keegan?". This phrase exploded on the internet and has been making the rounds since.

  • You can't park the car there 

A meme born out of another serious situation. A car was captured in an obscure place by an onlooker who said, "You can't park the car thereeee..."

South Africans have used this meme in many situations since.

  • It issss what it isssss

According to KnowYourMeme, the first recorded use of this video was when it was uploaded to YouTube. Posted in December 2019, it referred to the video as a meme despite there being no apparent earlier use of the video anywhere else.
