Keri's Wellness Wednesday: Reduce salt in food using potatoes
Updated | By Keri Miller
Too much salt can be a simple mistake that lands up costing you your whole meal. Keri has the perfect salting hack to keep your salting in check!

Winter is here and that means HELLO delicious soups and stews. With cooking comes salting and there is a good chance you have had at least one salt disaster.
It is not easy to completely remove salt from a dish, but there are ways to minimise the effects of your salt catastrophe.
Things You'll Need:
- Potato
- Potato peeler
- Serving spoon with holes
A tried and tested method is as easy as 1, 2 3. Welcome the spud, your new best bud.
Step 1: Peel a potato with a peeler, cut the potato in half lengthwise and then into quarters.
Step 2: Put the potato into the stew/soup and allow it to simmer for 15mins. It will absorb some of the liquid so be prepared to possibly add more liquid/unsalted broth.
Step 3: Use a spoon (with holes in) to fish the potatoes out of the pot (and use them however you please).
And there it is, your soup/stew/sauce is good to go!
