Keri's Wellness Wednesday: Homemade Orange Candles
Updated | By Keri Miller
May this ignite the flame of your romance and make your Valentine's Day as hot as the interior of a #Kuga.
With Valentine’s Day less than a week away, here is a way you can get the room to romantic level 3000 without having to spend a fortune.
When did simple candles get SO expensive? Welcome to the world of the orange candle!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Orange
Knife
Olive Oil (or whatever oil you have at home)
Lighter
Make a light cut around the circumference of the orange and peel it carefully.
Keep the orange on the side as a snack. Make sure to leave the middle ‘stem-like’ portion intact.
Fill half the orange with your choice of oil to just below the centre of the ‘stem’ wick. Olive oil seems to be the most commonly used but any other vegetable oil or coconut oil should do the trick.
Dip the wick in the oil and allow it at least 30 seconds to soak up the liquid.
Then light and enjoy!
Tip: To protect your flame from the wind, cut a fun shape into the top half of the orange peel (the one not in use already) and pop that on top as a lid.
