Keri Miller's summer smoothie recipe that will satisfy the whole family
Updated | By Keri Miller
When you make a smoothie properly, it's less diet food and more like a dessert.
I have a few friends who don't love banana, so I have been playing around with smoothies that don't have a banana as the base.
In my experiments, I came up with a smoothie that is also dairy-free, but when we add 'almond milk' or 'coconut yoghurt', that's when you can add the milk and yoghurt of your choice.

TIP: Freeze your fruit beforehand so you don't need to add ice and water down your smoothie. I like to buy frozen fruit, there is a lovely proudly KZN brand called Fruzo that I buy and use.
RECIPE
Put frozen strawberries, mango, and pineapple into your blender
Add a 'dollop' of plain yoghurt (coconut or other) and about 100ml milk (almond or full cream) to add creaminess.
For extra deliciousness, add a sprinkle of cinnamon and a heaped tablespoon of raw cacao (cacao is a superfood unlike cocoa, which really adds some brain-boosting, mood-enhancing greatness to your smoothie)
Blend all your ingredients together until smooth. You will notice that because the fruit is previously frozen, the texture is that of a soft-serve sorbet. If you like it a little sweeter, you can also add a little raw *non-irradiated* honey.
DELICIOUS! If I'm really hungry, I will also sprinkle some muesli or nuts over the top. Just great!
If you give this a try, please let me know how it tasted.
