Should restaurants still have dress codes in 2024?

"How can any decent restaurant accept a customer wearing that?" - The risqué outfits worn by Kanye West's wife have sparked a debate about restaurant dress codes. But should we still care what people wear in 2024?

Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, are on the verge of being banned from restaurants in California due to their eyebrow-raising outfit choices.

Less than a year after a boat company in Italy banned the couple for life for inappropriate behaviour, restaurant owners in America are reportedly considering denying them access until they dress more appropriately.

Bianca, who married Kanye in December 2022, is known for her revealing outfits. She has stepped out in public wearing clothes that some would consider underwear. In some cases, her bare breasts could be seen through sheer tops.

Sometimes, the couple ditches their shoes and goes barefoot while walking the streets.

Bianca's latest outfit has the internet up in arms. The 29-year-old Australian's outfit consisted of a teenie weenie bikini top that barely covered her nipples,

"She looks absolutely ridiculous. How can any decent restaurant accept a customer wearing that? Even the main supermarkets have signs up in summer advising that tops must be worn for hygiene purposes when shopping as topless men were going in. This is so much worse," the Daily Mail quoted one social media user.

Another user commented: "You used to get refused entry due to dress codes to a restaurant if you didn't wear a tie, How times have changed, now you can enter and dine almost naked."

Bianca defied her critics by wearing an even more revealing outfit to a tanning salon on Monday. Her see-through netted top left very little to the imagination.

Many have questioned why Kanye, who criticised his ex-wife Kim Kardashian for wearing sexy outfits, is almost always fully dressed while his wife walks around in the bare minimum - even on cold days.

The rapper is known to dress the woman in his life and is reportedly responsible for many of Bianca's risqué looks.

However, a fashion designer who has worked with the couple revealed earlier this year that she has a say in what she wears and is perfectly fine with the outfits.

Bianca might be okay with her outfits, but many people don't feel they should be subjected to staring at her bare breasts in public spaces.

"Nothing she wears is either comfortable, stylish, or alluring. It is plain exhibitionism and if anyone else dared hit the streets dressed like that, they would be sent to prison for indecent exposure. Why are they letting [her],get away with it?" one internet user wrote.

However, some believe that it is 2024, and we should not be forcing people to conform to society's idea of what is normal or appropriate.

Some even want restaurant dress codes to be banned altogether, believing it can sometimes lead to discrimination.

Family and fine-dining restaurants often ban people from wearing swimwear, flip-pop slippers, booty shorts, tank tops, and caps. Some have even banned inappropriate language.
