Introducing the 'I'm Bored Jar' for adults

After Darren shared his ideas for the 'I'm Bored Jar', the team decided to create one for adults.

We know that adults need one just as much as the kids do. So, the team got together and created 100 things to do for adults.

Introducing the 'I'm Bored Jar' for adults:

  1. Have a shot

  11. Clean up the kitchen

  12. Clean out a drawer in the bedroom

  13. Go through your clothes and get rid of what you haven’t used in a year

  14. Go through that shelf/drawer you’ve been avoiding

  15. Read at least one paragraph of that book you’ve been meaning to read

  16. Make your bed PROPERLY 

  17. Play a game, card or board

  18. Create your own drink

  19. Go online, learn a foot massage technique, and then practice on your quarantine partner/yourself

  20. Google an easy homemade face mask and put it on

  21. Take an Epsom salt bath for 20mins (2 cups Epsom salts, 2 cups bicarb, essential oils) if you don’t have a bath at home fill a bucket with warm water, halve the quantity and put your feet in the bucket. 

  22. WhatsApp a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while

  23. Message/call a family member

  24. Pluck. Yes, take the time to get rid of unwanted hairs… wherever they are

  25. Learn a new recipe, something you’ve always wanted to make/eat

  26. Drink a big glass of water

  27. Rearrange a room in the house

  28. Clear your phone of unwanted or old messages (especially from an ex) 

  29. Clean up your email inbox/outbox

  30. Pour a drink while reminiscing and looking through old pics 

  31. Clean your sneakers

  32. Wash your bike/car

  70. Message someone a random compliment (mean it)

  71. Check on someone who you know may be alone at this time, a call or a message can do more than you realise

  72. Stretch (and then have a shot) 

  73. PLANT something. It will be your coronaplant. A reminder of the time the world went mad. Also watching a plant grow is amazing. Even choose something you can eat, like a herb, or chillies etc

  74. Binge time… Choose a series and settle down to watch at least two episodes

  75. Do 20 jumping jacks 

  76. Hold a high plank for at least 10 seconds (for the more advanced 30 seconds or 1 minute)

  77. Dance in the lounge

  78. Listen to an album from your matric year 

  79. If you’ve been saving a bottle of something for a ‘special occasion’, THIS IS IT. OPEN IT. 

  80. Build a time capsule, find a shoebox or something similar and put in some ‘stuff’ from today, include a newspaper or magazine, and write some information: your name, where you are, how old, what is the date, what is going on in the world, the current exchange rate, the price of fuel, and a message to whoever finds this in the future. Seal it when it’s full. 

  81. Opposite hand hour… do everything with your opposite hand for the next hour

  82. Do 10 push ups 

  83. Stay off your phone, laptop or tablet for an hour

  84. Do 10 sit-ups 

  85. Play a game of ‘truth’ or ‘dare’ with your quarantine partner 

  86. Go onto ecr.co.za and listen to a ‘khuluma nathi’ podcast and practice the isiZulu sentence

  87. Start a puzzle (if you don’t have a puzzle, play a different game)

  88. Get a piece of paper, go online and search ‘origami’, learn to fold origami

  89. Write a family anthem. Use your surname 

  90. Learn the South African anthem PROPERLY 

  91. Make a vision board using magazines. Not sure what a vision board is? Google 

  92. Learn the map of Africa

  93. Learn the provinces of South Africa 

  94. Floss!!!! 

  95. Download Snapchat and take some fun pics with your quarantine partner 

  96. Do a cartwheel

  97. Play the laughing game, who can keep a straight face the longest while everyone is saying ‘hahaha’ or ‘heeheehee’

  98. Play ‘pen partners’. One person has a piece of paper and a pen, the other person must describe a random object and get the other person to draw it

  99. Play ‘I spy’ (make it hard)

  100. Play the alphabet game. Tell a story, but you must start the first sentence with A. the next person must start their sentence with B, etc. See how far you can go.
