Here are some basic suggestions from Breakfast co-host Carmen Reddy on how to jumpstart your fitness journey and ease back into your gym routine.
Firstly, you will need to start slow and try not to rush things.
Avoid the temptation to jump into your old workout routine at full throttle. Start with lighter weights and shorter workout durations to avoid injury and excessive pain.

The second thing is that you need to actually set yourself realistic goals. Begin with clear, achievable fitness objectives/goals.
Whether it's losing a few kilograms, increasing your strength or improving your body, having specific targets will keep you motivated.
The third thing is properly warming up your body. According to NHS inform, the purpose of warming up before physical activity is to prepare mentally.
Spend time on warm-up exercises to prepare your muscles and other things associated with your body. Dynamic stretches, light cardio, and mobility exercises are great choices.
The fourth and final tip is to stay hydrated. As the Durban temperatures will be rising soon, it's very important to stay hydrated.
