How did this shopper rack up a R1,000 parking ticket at the mall?
Updated | By East Coast Radio
This shopper shared the total on her mall parking ticket and asked people to guess how long she was there...
Visiting the mall can become expensive, notwithstanding the price that some people pay for parking.
Paid parking is mandatory at most big malls in South Africa, and it provides peace of mind while shopping. You are charged according to the time you spend at the mall.
We cannot imagine how long this shopper was parked at the mall because when she inserted her parking ticket into the machine, it read R1,000.

Hope Mudau, the young woman who posted the video on her social media, is a student at the University of Cape Town, and this was at the Canal Walk mall.
She shared that this amount was more than her monthly allowance and said she would be walking, but she has yet to share much more about what happened. We know that Hope is a content creator and this could've been a video that was just posted to attract views.
People were left with their assumptions. Some said she was parked there for a week; others predicted more.
- "Canal Walk be handing out motivational quotes with those prices. "Change is possible""
- "200 hours which is 8 days, 7hours & 55min"
- "Call operator : “ Hi, I’ve lost my ticket “. Done. You’ve just saved R950"
- "Just press the help button and say it’s not working"
- "Just go to the gate and press the button for a new ticket, I’ve done it before"
That last comment shocked us!
