Markus Jooste failed to appear at his criminal trial in Germany, with his lawyers citing problems with his passport. German prosecutors have now applied for an arrest warrant.

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has defended the R1.4 million spent to bring Thabo Bester and Dr Magudumana back to SA, saying it was the cheapest charter flight available.
