Here's what you need should you not have a new driver's licence card

People with expired licences need to take note!
Where there are no cards, there should be no driving.
However, because of the pandemic, motorists have been given some leeway.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula created an extension for drivers who needed to renew their licences during the height of the pandemic, but that time is up.

People with cars will have to now produce proof in the form of a receipt should their licence cards be expired and they be stopped by traffic officials.
According to earlier reports, the grace period applied to motorists whose licence cards had expired between 26 March 2020 and 31 August 2021.

The Transport Minister has put out a warning to motorists who refuse to show proof of their renewal receipt that there will be consequences.

Stefanie Flick, Executive Director of Accountability for Outa, stated that as long as drivers have a photographic picture of their proof of renewal, this would also have to come with their old licence card.
Those two things should be enough for the traffic officer in the event of you being pulled over.
