This hack stops your lipstick from smudging on your facemask

Saffron Hughes, make-up artist at FalseEyelashes.co.uk,
shares a great tip on how to keep your lipstick intact while wearing a mask.
As the world tries to curb the spread of the coronavirus, many of us have had to make some changes to the way we live our lives. Social distancing and working from home has become the norm for so many and wearing a mask in public has become second nature.
However, many found that wearing a mask has left their make-up
looking tattered – which is why Saffron Hughes, make-up artist at
FalseEyelashes.co.uk, has shared her fool-proof hack on how to stop your
lipstick from smudging on your mask.
Saffron explains that the first step after applying your
lipstick is slowly buffing your lips with your finger. "This will create a
thinner layer of lipstick which will keep any excess formula rubbing off onto
your mask," Saffron explains.
She adds that after this step, you should lightly move your finger in a circular motion directly after you have applied the lipstick and wait five minutes before dusting on powder to set the colour in place.

"Ensure to do this gently as you don’t wait to eradicate all the colour," she says. "Just enough so the right amount of product is absorbed into the lips and excess has been removed."
Saffron adds that another way to avoid lipstick from smudging under a mask is to wear your lipstick as a stain - an effective way to sustain colour your lips with no residue.

She says that to try this method, apply a light layer of lip balm onto your lips then pat a highly pigmented lipstick colour from the centre of your lips outwards with your finger to distribute the colour. "Lip balms blend the colour into your lips easily without any tacky residue sticking to your mask," she explains. "Avoid the corners as this is more likely to create a smudge, finish with a blot by pressing your lips carefully together. A lip stain is a great way to apply a light wash of colour if you’re not in the mood for ultra-matte.”
