Grocery shopping heads-up: These items are more expensive now!

Prices have gone through the roof!
The price of everything in the world is increasing... and it doesn't seem to be coming to an end.
We hate to be party-poopers, but this will be helpful. These food items will be a lot pricier going forward.

The latest consumer price index has been published by Statistics South Africa and the results indicate how inflation remained 5.7% in February 2022, the same figure it was in January.
When you have a look at the graph below, you'll see there are some spikes - those are rising food and transport prices.
The consumer price index (CPI) for these increased by 0.6% between January and February, the statistics body said.

BusinessTech also confirms that these goods and services saw some of the largest annual price increases (February 2021 vs February 2022):
- Oils and fats: +22.7%
- Electricity and other fuels: +14.1 %
- Meat: +8.6%
- Vegetables: +7.7%
- Wine: +6.9%
- Hotels: +6.3%
- Restaurants: +6.1%
- Fish: +5.3%
- Alcoholic beverages: +5.2%
Annual consumer #inflation held steady at 5,7% in February, unchanged from 5,7% in January. The monthly rate was 0,6%, driven mainly by rising food and #transport prices.
