The latest Angler News report kicks off with excitement about the return of garrick and shad, marking the start of the autumn fishing season.

Anglers are enjoying a productive period, with various species being caught across different regions, including shad, garrick, kob, kingfish, pompano, snoek, and even a rare angel shark in KZN.

Fishing conditions have been particularly favourable on the beaches and for ski boat anglers, where snoek, rock cod, and couta are in good supply.

However, the freshwater scene has faced some challenges due to heavy rainfall, causing swollen rivers and difficult fishing conditions. Fortunately, reports from Underberg suggest the waters are beginning to settle. Bass fishing has also been a highlight.

The North Coast continues to deliver impressive catches, with anglers reporting pompano, kob, and sand sharks.

Meanwhile, the South Coast has seen a few garrick, bream, and sharks, including smooth-nose and flat-nose species.

With promising conditions expected for the weekend – whether fishing along the coast, in freshwater, or offshore – anglers are gearing up for an action-packed few days on the water
