Bakkies is synonymous with Springbok rugby and South African rugby as a whole.
By the time Bakkies had retired from rugby, he was one of the most decorated players the game has ever seen.
Bakkies was one of the guests at the Springbok campaign launch ahead of the 2023 World Cup.
It was at this event where Bakkies was caught on camera as he learned the words to the song, 'Mfowethu', followed by him singing it loud and proud.
