The incorrect spelling of a road marking in Hanover Park, Cape Town left social media users in disbelief as the word "SCHOOL" was misspelled as "SHCOOL". Ward 48 councillor Zahid Badroodien said the error was an honest mistake that could have been made by anyone.

The National Institute for Communicable Disease (NICD) has detected a further four cases of measles in the Greater Sekhukhune District, bringing the total number of cases to seven. It said the ages of measles-infected cases ranged from nine months to 24 years.

An unlikely saviour for building collapse disasters has emerged. Belgian non-profit APOPO is kitting out rodents with tiny, high-tech backpacks with cameras and GPSs to help first responders search for survivors among rubble in disaster zones.
