With the weekend already over, here are five things you need to know before you get out of bed this Monday morning: 

1. 

The M4 Bridge at La Mercy was officially reopened by KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala on Saturday afternoon.

A train has derailed in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, leaving two people injured. According to Midlands Emergency Medical Service, the incident took place in Balgowan.

Police say the shooting at a Pietermaritzburg tavern on Saturday night that claimed the lives of four people and left eight injured was a random act. There was also a mass shooting in Soweto where a number of people were killed.

Two British cave divers who rescued 12 boys and their football coach from a flooded cave in Thailand have been given honorary degrees. John Volanthen, from Bristol, and Rick Stanton, from Coventry, were involved in the dramatic events in July 2018.

Tributes continue to pour in for two icons of South African media that have passed away - broadcasters Kevin Savage and Barry Ronge. Savage was a radio icon, while Ronge was South Africa's premier film critic.
