All remaining Covid-19 restrictions, originally imposed via a national state of disaster, were due to expire at midnight. However, a last-minute update to national regulations kept in place South Africa's mask mandate and the other remaining Covid-19 rules.

South African-born runner Jacky Hunt-Broersma, who lost her leg to cancer, is now set to be entered into the Guinness World Record books after completing 104 marathons in as many days. Hunt-Broersma began her challenge in mid-January, running around 42 kilometers a day.

US comedian Dave Chappelle has been attacked on stage during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Clips shared on social media showed someone running into the star, but further videos appeared to show the comic apparently unharmed after returning to the stage.

Director of Gift of the Givers Imtiaz Sooliman reacted to Trevor Noah’s recent appeal on his Daily Show for people to donate to them. He told viewers that Gift of the Givers was a disaster relief organisation helping people affected by the floods and asked people to donate.
