It's FRY-YAY and time for the weekend to begin.

With the weekend upon us, here's a look at five things as you get up from bed:

1. 

Boris Johnson announced his resignation as British Prime Minister on Thursday, after being abandoned by newly appointed ministers and more than 50 others in a rebellion that has left the government dangerously close to paralysis. He will remain in office until a replacement is announced.

2. 

Loadshedding will remain on Stage 4 throughout the day on Friday before being reduced to lower stages over the weekend. EThekwini is still exempt FOR NOW. 

However, from August. all of that will change!

Ons Jabeur became the first African woman in the Open era to reach a Grand Slam final on Thursday when she defeated Germany's Tatjana Maria in the Wimbledon semi-finals. The 27-year-old world number two from Tunisia triumphed 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was unconscious and unresponsive after he was apparently shot in the chest during a political event in the western city of Nara on Friday.
