President Cyril Ramaphosa says government will do everything in its power to protect South Africans from unsustainable increases in the cost of living. This after the price of fuel, which affects the price of other goods and services, has risen by a third in the 12 months to March 2022.

Woolworths is rolling out electric panel vans to do deliveries for its online business. This will reduce their carbon emissions by 700,000kg annually. The electric panel vans will deliver to customers in Gauteng, Cape Town, and Durban. About 70% of Woolworths' fleet will be electric.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has condemned a video doing the rounds threatening a shutdown of police stations on June 16, warning: “Whilst we are aware that this is an old video, we appeal to members of the public to refrain from circulating this video as this will be playing into the hands of mischievous individuals who clearly want to spread panic amongst the community.”

The Competition Commission (CC) says major airlines have committed to keeping flight ticket prices the same and will not “exploit” the situation following the grounding of Comair flights.

Rajesh and Atul Gupta have been arrested in Dubai, over four months after Interpol issued a red notice for them in connection with fraud and money-laundering charges.
