News just in, President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka as the country's new Public Protector.
According to ECR NewsWatch: "The president wishes Advocate Gcaleka well in her position and trusts that she will serve the people of South Africa with honour and dedication."

Here is a brief history of Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka according to Public Protector South Africa:
Born in Johannesburg and raised in Umzimkhulu, Adv. Kholeka Gcaleka's diverse upbringing across Gauteng, Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal strongly influences her commitment to public service, particularly for the benefit of the underserved.
She has a rich history of serving as a Special Advisor to various government departments, specialising in administration, law, legislation, policy development, strategy, compliance, and governance. Adv. Gcaleka also played a pivotal role in the Committee of Enquiry investigating municipal affairs in Gauteng and has been involved in various board positions.
Before her role as Deputy Public Protector of South Africa, Adv. Gcaleka established herself as an accomplished lawyer and prosecutor. She began her career as an Aspirant Prosecutor with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in 2004, focusing on gender-based violence and human trafficking.

With 17 years of combined experience in legal advisory, senior management, and public prosecutions, her strong suit is providing litigation and legal advice to government officials, departments, and organisations. Strategy formulation, organisational management, and effective collaboration with stakeholders are her strengths.
Her educational background includes an LLB Degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an LLM Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Johannesburg.
