Exclusive: Darren chats to Gerrie Nel on his NPA exit
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
Courtroom bulldog Gerrie Nel announced his resignation from the NPA this week, and Darren Maule had to grab him for a chat.
The country's 'Protector' is no longer of service to the NPA. He's the man responsible for putting Oscar Pistorius and former top cop Jackie Selebi behind bars.
He has served the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for 35 years, and received an international prosecutors’ award for his successful prosecution of Selebi, who also headed Interpol, on charges of corruption.
Gerrie Nel is leaving the NPA to join Afriforum, and he's been quoted as saying that Afriforum has given him "carte blanche" - with no restrictions on his team or any aspect of establishing a private prosecution office.
Darren Maule had the opportunity to catch up with him with regards to his resignation.
Two years ago, Graphic Design students at Pixel Craft created this awesome music video to our parody song 'I'm Gerrie Nel', sang by Gangs of Ballet.
We absolutely love it!
