End of an era: Coca-Cola is canning TaB
Updated | By Nokuthula Ngcobo
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it has to be done.
Coca-Cola has announced the discontinuation of TaB; a huge blow for those who loved the drink.
The soft drink was a cultural icon in the 80's after being created in 1963, becoming Coca-Cola's first-ever diet soft drink. It will be removed from fridges soon.

TaB became very popular among those who have diabetes, as it contains no sugar.
The news broke via a statement released by Coca-Cola in which it stated that it will retire select products in various markets around the world. This move is to create a portfolio of drinks that are positioned to capture growth in a fast-changing marketplace.
"This isn’t about paring down to a specific number of product offerings under our brands. The objective is to drive impact and growth. It’s about continuing to follow the consumer and being very intentional in deciding which of our brands are most deserving of our investments and resources,” said Cath Coetzer, who is the global head of innovation and marketing operations at the Coca-Cola Company.
