#ECRToyStory2018: Sky Tshabalala recalls when he received his first soccer ball
Updated | By Sky Tshabalala
Everyone has a favourite toy, and they bring back beautiful memories which allow us to remissness about the dreams we once had. Sky speaks about his childhood dreams with his soccer ball.
I received my most favourite toy when I was five - which was a soccer ball.
When I was growing up in Vryheid, we would make soccer balls out of plastic bags which we used to get from shopping, because that was the best material to make a soccer ball. We would put them all together to make a ball, and we would kick it around and play with it.
But when my dad gave me my first soccer ball, I honestly felt like I was going to be the next Siyabonga Nomvethe. Receiving that soccer ball made me think I was playing with the same ball that he played with in the 1998 World Cup for Bafana Bafana.
