This might be an example of a skeuomorph, a design element that once had a functional purpose but is now just ornamental. A skeuomorph is often used in cellphones, for example, the contact list icon that's a rolodex, the alarm app that looks like an old clock, etc.

Every major news channel has pre-recorded packages of Queen Elizabeth's life, ready to be aired at a moment's notice. It's standard practice with prominent figures. For example, most radio and TV stations already had material to air when Nelson Mandela, F.W. De Klerk, Joost Van Der Westhuizen, and Desmond Tutu died.

When a pilot ejects from their plane, the ejection seat manufacturer gives them a tie. The Ejection Tie Club is confined solely to those who have ejected from an aircraft during an emergency, using a Martin-Baker ejection seat. There are over 6,000 members.

A Razzle-dazzler is the Oxford dictionary term for a particularly colourful sock. Back then it wasn't as popular but in this day and age, you can simply call them fun socks.
