ECR assists with disaster relief in Ladysmith
Supporting the local community after the floods endured over the last couple of weeks.
Over the past few weeks, numerous suburbs in eThekweni faced the effects of flooding and severe weather conditions. These unforeseen weather events have lead to significant damage to infrastructure and communities. Sadly, lives have also been lost.
The impact isn't confined to just the City of Durban. One of the most affected areas in our province includes parts of the Alfred Duma Local Municipality, under the uThukela District Municipality.
These residents experienced severe flooding on the 8th of January 2024. The aftermath has left several households in the Central Business District (CBD) displaced, resulting in their relocation to temporary shelters set up in community halls.
Big Favour: Donate
In response to this crisis, ECR Big Favour has reached out to the Department of Social Development. Thanks to the generous contributions from supporters like you, who have donated to The Big Favour, we are fortunate enough to assist over 150 families from the affected areas by distributing blankets.
Additionally, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has been enlisted to provide essential vouchers for groceries and toiletries.
