East Coast Radio heads back to help residents of Tongaat this Mandela Day
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Darren, Sky, and Carmen headed to Newtown Hall in Tongaat today to celebrate Mandela Day with the residents who were affected by the tornado.
The East Coast Radio Breakfast team visited the Newtown Hall in Tongaat to commemorate Mandela Day.
The team broadcasted live from the hall and was excited to meet residents of Tongaat who showed up despite the chilly weather.
After raising R1.6-million at ECR's WhatsApp-a-thon in June 2024, we thought it only fitting to revisit the residents during their time of need.
A little upliftment can go a long way; that was Mandela Day's intention. Our objective this Mandela Day was to illustrate that Mandela Day is an ongoing commitment, reflected in our intervention during the tornado and our continued projects beyond this day.
The team was happy to thank the Gift of the Givers for their collaboration in identifying and supporting local projects, who were also present today.
East Coast Radio's Managing Director, Mzuvele Mthethwa, was at the initiative and offered some words of upliftment and unity as we celebrated Nelson Mandela, the father of our nation.
The morning was filled with smiles and excitement as the families were gifted with Defy refrigerators from Kingdom Slots. Thank you to Kingdom Slots' General Manager, Prakashnie Govender, who made this possible.
