PODCAST: East Coast Radio and Futurelife team up for Mandela Day 2022
Updated | By East Coast Radio/Futurelife
We have partnered with Futurelife to provide life-changing nutrition for South Africa’s Children.
This year, East Coast Radio and Futurelife will be celebrating Mandela Month with the goal of providing a million meals for children in need.
The campaign forms part of our drive to collectively distribute over 5 million meals to children in need over the next 12 months, as well as build a pre-school.
To help deliver on this ambitious plan, Futurelife has partnered with East Coast Radio and the Nelson Mandela Foundation Early Childhood Development Programme and is inviting all South Africans to join us in this much-needed initiative.
The harsh reality is that malnutrition and hunger are a constant for many of South Africa’s children. In fact, alarmingly, 4.6 million of our nation’s children will go to bed hungry tonight.
“It’s in challenging times such as these that we are reminded that through our collective efforts and taking action, we can make every day a Mandela Day; we can change our societies for the better. The theme for Mandela Day 2022 was chosen based on the immortal words of Theodore Roosevelt, ’Do What You Can, With What You Have, Where You Are’ and I encourage everyone to get involved with the Futurelife and Nelson Mandela Foundation campaign of celebrating hope so that we can do good in our communities and fight hunger together.” - Sello Hatang, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation,
Mandela Day is an annual international day in honour of former South African president, global icon and philanthropist, Nelson Mandela. This special day is celebrated every year on the 18th of July - Mandela's birthday.
Nelson Mandela International Day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009.
Stay tuned to East Coast Radio and follow us on social media to find out how you can get involved with us this year!
To encourage this participation, Futurelife has created a unique Smart Food Mandela pack that will be available at all retailers from mid-June and online at www.futurelife.com.
“We have made it as simple as possible for people to get involved as each Futurelife SMART FOOD Mandela pack features a QR code on the back, linked to a secure online donation portal, which you can scan. Alternatively, you can go online and donate a month’s worth of breakfast to a child in need by clicking here to make a donation. 100% of the funds raised will go towards helping us to reach more children with life-changing nutrition." - Mark Bunn, Managing Director of Futurelife
