According to ECR NewsWatch, Members of Parliament (MP) voted to back a report by the Section 194 Committee that recommended her removal as Public Protector due to misconduct and incompetence.
The votes came from a majority of 318 MPs who voted in favour of the motion, while 43 MPs voted against it. One abstained.
If you remember, Mkhwebane was suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa back in 2021 shortly after she started probing the Phala Phala matter.
For Darren, Sky & Carmen, the whole saga is so fascinating, so they decided to call on someone from the news industry to help them unpack this.
In comes Marius Van Der Walt, who is the East Coast Radio Newswatch Editor in Chief, to help.
In the latest news surrounding the sacking, many political parties including the Democratic Alliance (DA) have welcomed the news of the sacking of Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
Also, let's not forget that the committee which probed her fitness to hold office found her guilty of misconduct and incompetence.

The DA released a statement on the news of the dismissal of the Public Protector.
"The DA takes great pride in the members who served on the Section 194 Committee, demonstrating diligence and upholding their oath of office, even in the face of harsh criticism and ad hominem attacks," says the DA via their statement.
Marius believes there is a lot more to come from this story.
"As soon as the story landed on my desk, I knew it was just a matter of time before the entire country would react. Best believe, this isn't over not by a ling shot," says Marius.
