Do you have the luck to win R1 million?

Do you have the luck to win R1 million?

Are you lucky enough to win R1 million? Some people seem to have all the luck in the world – could you be one of them? Let's find out.

So much money

Some people are just born lucky. They find money in their jeans right when they’re broke. They always hit green lights when they’re running late. They win raffles they don’t remember entering.

Someone is about to win R1 million in just a few days! Although, let’s be real for a second. How do you know if you have that kind of luck?

Could you be East Coast Radio’s next millionaire, or are you the type who’d buy a lotto ticket, lose it, and then find out it was the winning one?

Let’s find out!

Are you naturally lucky? Take this quick test:

  • Have you ever randomly found money on the ground? (+10 luck points)

  • Have you ever guessed a WiFi password correctly on the first try? (+20 luck points)

  • Did your phone survive a face-down fall without a crack? (+50 luck points)

  • Have you ever sneezed while holding a drink and not spilt a drop? (+100 luck points – this is pure wizardry)

  • Have you ever parked right in front of the entrance at the mall on a busy Saturday? (+500 luck points – you, my friend, are blessed)

If you scored over 500, congratulations. You’re practically a four-leaf clover in human form.

So, maybe you aced our luck test, or perhaps you realised that luck has never been on your side.

Here’s the thing though, luck isn’t just about random chance. Some people swear by little rituals and traditions to give fate a gentle push in the right direction.

Superstitions that could help you win

People have been trying to hack luck for centuries. Some carry weird objects, others follow bizarre rituals, and some just avoid certain things like their lives depend on it.

If you’re serious about winning that R1 million, you might want to try a few of these:

Wear red underwear
This one’s big in many cultures. Red is said to bring good fortune, wealth, and success. In China, it’s believed that wearing red (especially during New Year celebrations) attracts prosperity.

So, if you see someone walking around in red boxers or a lacy red number, just nod in respect.

Knock on wood
Ever said something good and immediately knocked on wood? This superstition goes way back. The idea is that spirits live in trees, and by knocking, you’re asking them to protect you from bad luck.

So, if you’ve already declared, “I’m totally going to win this R1 million,” find the nearest wooden object and start knocking aggressively.

Keep a lucky object
Some people have lucky coins, others carry four-leaf clovers, and some even keep… a champagne cork (Ernest Hemingway kept a champagne cork with him, which he claims saved his life in WW2).

If you don’t have a lucky charm yet, today might be the day to find one. Just make sure it’s not something weird like your cousin’s old sock.

Avoid stepping on cracks
We’ve all heard the old rhyme: step on a crack, break your mother’s back. While we hope that’s not true, stepping on cracks has been linked to bad luck for centuries. Some people actually walk extra carefully, avoiding pavement lines like they’re in a real-life game of Twister.

So, if you see someone tiptoeing around, don’t judge – they just really want to win that million.

Cross your fingers and hold them until we announce the winner
Crossing fingers is an ancient Christian tradition believed to bring divine protection. Today, it’s more of a universal gesture of luck.

If you’re serious about that R1 million, take it up a notch – cross your fingers, your toes, and even your shoelaces (if you're feeling extra lucky).

At the end of the day, luck is a funny thing. Some swear by their rituals, while others believe you make your own fortune.

The only certainty is you definitely can’t win if you don’t take a chance.

In just a few days, one lucky East Coast Radio listener will be R1 million richer.

It could be you. It should be you. It must be you!

So, if you haven’t entered a Million & Change yet, what are you doing? Go do it NOW.

If you have entered… well, you might want to cross your fingers, do a little lucky dance, and maybe even wear that one shirt that always seems to bring good vibes.

Who knows? Your luck might just change forever.
