'Disrespectful' Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka in the spotlight
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka took off his club
shirt and cupped his hand to his ear as he stormed down the tunnel when Arsenal
fans booed him while he was being substituted.
We discuss Pitso Mosimane's remarks, the upcoming Soweto Derby, and Granit Xhaka's behaviour. Listen to the podcast and read more in the blog below:
The coach had to make a decision to take him off when he realised the veteran midfielder was not stepping up to the plate as the team squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace.
The kind of behavior he displayed was despicable and amateurish, and that's not how you behave when the chips are down.
He could have quickly got off the pitch and let other players with some fresh legs do the job as opposed to being selfish.
I hope Unai Emery uses this opportunity to send out a strong message to his players that he has a backbone.
