Darren Maule's idea of plastic roads comes to life in Jeffreys Bay
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
You will remember last year that Darren Maule spoke to former Deputy Mayor Fawzia Peer about plastic roads in KZN. Well, the idea became a reality for Jeffreys Bay.
We reported last year that Jeffreys Bay was getting a plastic road, which is a first for South Africa.
According to The South African, Kouga Municipality collaborated with South African engineers to get this project off the ground. They also worked with MacRebur, a Scottish company, to kickstart the groundbreaking project in the Eastern Cape.
And now it's finally here!
The official opening took place on Friday, 28 February and the Kouga Municipality’s Executive Mayor Horatio Hendricks cut the ribbon.
Darren Maule wrote an open letter to Deputy Mayor Fawiza Peer, asking her if it would possible if the engineers from the Scottish company could please do the same for the roads in KZN. Many called in to complain that the roads in KZN are unbearable to drive on.
Darren met with the Deputy Mayor, who discussed the possibilities, and we're hoping it happens in KZN soon.
