Videovision Entertainment co-production, 'Dust', which is the debut feature film by writer/director Pieter du Plessis, has been selected as the closing night film of the 41st Durban International Film Festival, which runs from 10th to 20th September 2020. Darren had a chat with lead actress, Shana Mans, about this slow-burning tension thriller.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, 'Dust' follows Mans’ character, Rachel, and her traumatised family as they find asylum at a remote farmstead in a barren landscape.

In the film, Rachel believes that they have found a place to rest before moving on again, until the matriarch of the farm asks her to marry one of her sons. This sets off a cascade of clashing allegiances and ideologies that becomes more and more constricting to the young woman, her disabled father, and adopted little brother.

Months after auditioning and eventually giving up on ever getting any role in the production, Mans tells Darren that she finally got the call from the producers and she could not believe that she got the lead role.

"That was quite the rollercoaster, but I wouldn't have it any other way because I was ready," she says.

Mans' resume is very impressive; she is known for her work on 'The Kissing Booth', 'The Read Sea Driving Resort', and now 'Dust'. She also works behind the scenes as a producer and make-up artist and stylist.
