City of Umhlathuze's letter to PSL pointless
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
The City of Umhlathuze's letter to the Premier Soccer League to try and stop the alleged Thanda Royal Zulu sale will have no impact on the proceedings.

LISTEN: The big debate on #OnTheBall - Another "bucket of chicken" bet?
As much as I feel for the municipality after they prioritised the football club, they have no leg to stand on.
They have invested millions of Rands in helping the team secure PSL promotion, renovating the stadium to meet PSL standards, and to help the team be in a good position to compete in the elite league.
The people of Richards Bay also love the team. We all expected Thanda management to take all those factors into consideration.
Unfortunately, that is a deal between the municipality and the team. The PSL can not intervene there.
Firstly, it's the municipality's responsibility to develop infrastructure. Thanda CEO Pierre Delvaux should have exercised loyalty though, since these renovations wouldn't have been prioritised if the municipality knew he was going to sell the team.
Secondly, even if it was a private sponsor, they should have taken action based on the terms of the deal without getting the PSL involved.
The City of Umhlathuze should just admit that Mr Delvaux outsmarted them in this instance.
With all that being said, I hope the sale gets rejected by the PSL for one reason or the other so that the people of Richards Bay and the municipality don't lose out.
