A bride-to-be is facing controversy after letting her guests know that they will have to fork out $10 (about R180) to attend the wedding at the venue they so desperately desire to get married at.

This fiancée took to Reddit to share why she is requesting her guests to pay but, unfortunately for her, Reddit users were not having it.

Is this bride wrong for asking guests for money? Share your thoughts:

Take a look at this situation shared by the young bride:

“My fiance (23M) and I (23 F) are getting married in less than a month. We are doing a small wedding and only inviting 20 guests. We decided we wanted to have our wedding up in a canyon, but to access this canyon it costs $10. So we’re having our guests pay the $10 to enter the canyon. We put this canyon fee on our invitations,” writes the bride-to-be (IOL).

It is alleged that even the bride's sister had some harsh words for the bride after she was expected to cough up some cash towards the big day.

It is standard practice to bring a gift to a wedding, get dolled up, transport yourself, stay over, and, at times, pay towards festivities leading up to the big day. Adding another payment to this is expected to ruffle some feathers.

One online user describes it as “having to pay to go to a concert”.

But wait, the story doesn’t end there. On top of the preparation and extra payment, guests were asked to bring along camping chairs!

“We don't want to spend a lot of money and so doing it outdoors is one way of doing that. We also just want our close intimate friends and families to be there so I don't know what's wrong with keeping it small,” says the bride-to-be.

We wish this bride the best in her celebrations and hope that with the help of her community, she can make it happen.
